York’s indie dessert scene just upped its game again with a new place to get Ice Cream, Milkshakes, Smoothies & More
Inside Scoop is now open on Fossgate
York’s indie dessert scene just upped its game again. Newly opened Inside Scoop on Fossgate have officially started serving Northern Bloc ice cream, and honestly, we’re already obsessed.
If you’ve never tried Northern Bloc, you’re in for a treat. Born in Leeds, loved nationwide, and now delightfully dolloped into cones and cups on Fossgate, this isn’t your average vanilla affair (although their Madagascan Vanilla is chef’s kiss).
What’s So Special About Northern Bloc?
Well, for starters, they’re ice cream nerds in the best possible way. Their flavours are bold, their ingredients are clean, and their vibe is “classic desserts with a modern twist.” Oh, and they do properly creamy vegan options too.
The team at Inside Scoop have picked out some banging flavours to start with, including:
Chocolate and Sea Salt – rich, dark, slightly salty. It’s basically a cuddle in a cone.
Peanut Chip – for when you want sweet, salty, crunchy AND creamy in one bite.
Mango Sorbet (vegan) – fruity, zingy, and 10/10 refreshing.
Strawberries & Cream – because summer’s coming and we want Wimbledon energy.
They’re rotating flavours too, so expect seasonal specials and surprise drops to keep things fresh (literally).
Why This Is a Big Deal for York
Inside Scoop is already known for going big on quality – their waffles, sundaes and shakes aren’t just Insta-worthy, they’re actually delicious. By teaming up with Northern Bloc, they’re putting even more Yorkshire pride into every scoop, and giving locals and visitors something a bit different.
So whether you’re on a city centre wander, hunting for post-lunch dessert, or just having a day where only ice cream will do – this is your new essential stop.
