Think steakhouse vibes, but with a quirky York twist. The Whippet Inn doesn’t mess about when it comes to perfectly cooked cuts of meat, and their sauces? Absolute game-changers. It’s the kind of place where even the chips feel luxurious. Ideal for date nights or a treat-yourself meal—just don’t try to out-posh their menu.
2. The Guy Fawkes Inn
History and hearty dishes collide at this iconic pub. Located in the birthplace of Mr. Gunpowder Plot himself, The Guy Fawkes Inn offers traditional pub classics with a side of atmospheric charm. Their pies are as legendary as Guy’s beard, and the open fire makes it perfect for wintery evenings.
3. The Fat Badger

4. The House of the Trembling Madness

5. The Fossgate Social
Technically more of a bar, but the food here is so good it sneaks onto the list. Perfect for brunch or a cheeky afternoon snack, The Fossgate Social’s menu is small but mighty. Think artisan toasties and baked goods that’ll make your Instagram followers jealous.
