Wine Not? New Bar, Restaurant, and Deli Set to Take Over York Street
York’s food and drink scene is getting another glow-up, and this one will have a Spanish feel. A brand-new wine bar, restaurant, and deli combo called Kaltur is moving into 24-26 Coppergate, promising to pair great food with even better vintages. It’s the kind of place that whispers, “Go on, treat yourself,” as you casually pretend to know the difference between Vega Sicilia Único and Blue Nun.
What’s the Deal?
This isn’t just a wine bar—it’s the holy trinity of dining destinations run by a Spanish family that has restaurants in Newcastle as well as its own olive groves and a company importing their own extra virgin olive oil. So, do you fancy a pre-dinner nibble with a glass of something crisp? Done. Need a hearty meal to soak up the third glass of that delicious red? Sorted. Want to grab some fancy olive oil and cheese for a night in? They will have that too.
Where Is It?
Right on Coppergate, because naturally, this place needs to be as central as your cravings for a good glass of wine. It’s moving into a prime location that used to be occupied by Vitoria Restaurant making it perfect for everything from leisurely lunches to those “one drink after work” nights that inevitably turn into three courses and a dessert.
What Can You Expect?
Picture sleek interiors, a carefully curated Spanish wine list that would impress even the fussiest sommelier, and a menu designed to pair perfectly with your drink of choice. Add to that a deli stocked with all the posh nibbles you need and you’ve got the ultimate food and wine destination.
Final Sip
Grab your mates, have a quick siesta and get down there when it opens in the new year.
