Vault Seven Vintage: York’s New Retro Treasure Trove Has Landed on Lendal
York’s vintage scene just levelled up with the arrival of Vault Seven Vintage on Lendal. This isn’t just a shop—it’s a time machine disguised as a boutique, ready to whisk you back to the style glory days of the 70s, 80s, 90s and noughts. Whether you’re after that rock ‘n’ roll edge or some old-school elegance, Vault Seven has arrived to make your wardrobe as unique as York’s winding streets.
Why Vault Seven?
Because, let’s face it, the only thing better than finding a unique piece of clothing is being able to smugly tell everyone, “Oh, this? It’s vintage.” Vault Seven is packed with everything from elegant dresses to edgy leather jackets, perfect for spicing up your wardrobe and avoiding the dreaded “Who wore it better?” moment at the Christmas party.
Where Is It?
Vault Seven Vintage is located in the former Jack Wolfskin building at 11 Lendal, just a stone’s throw from York Minster. The location is prime—it’s basically saying, “Come for the historic charm, stay for the killer outfits.” Whether you’re popping in during a day of sightseeing or heading straight there with a mission to upgrade your look, it’s easy to find and impossible to resist.
What’s Inside?
The team has curated a collection of vintage treasures so good you’ll think you’ve stumbled into a time machine. Expect iconic prints, bold accessories, and more sequins than a Strictly Come Dancing finale. Plus, everything’s sustainably sourced, so you can shop guilt-free while looking fabulous.
Who’s Behind It?
Business partners Sammy Clews, 25, and Betsy Vaca, 25, opened the doors to their shop last Thursday. They have a serious eye for style—and an even more serious commitment to sustainable fashion. Their motto? “Why buy new when old is cooler?” And they’re not wrong.
Why You Should Go
Because fast fashion is out, and individuality is in. Vault Seven is the place to find something unique, whether it’s a jacket that screams “James Dean vibes” or a dress that wouldn’t look out of place at a Gatsby party. Plus, shopping here means you’re supporting a small business and doing your bit for the planet. That’s a double win.
For more information, the shop can be found at @vaultsevenyork and will be open 10am-6pm every day up until Christmas and again from December 28th.
