This Weeks Best York Discounts
Our pick of the best deals now available for the York Residents’ Festival from free museums, attractions & tours to 40% off a steak.
You know I'm always on about the best things to see and do in York, but what about doing them without emptying your wallet? That's where the York Residents' Festival comes in. It's like a massive thank you from York, a two-day, city-wide, discount-bonanza!
York Residents’ Festival: A Local's Guide to Bargain Hunting
Now, some folks might think that a festival is just for tourists, a bit like the Shambles on a Saturday afternoon, but they’d be wrong. This one's for us locals, the people who know where the best coffee is, the best dog walks are, and now the best discounts are!
What's all the fuss about?
Well, it's a weekend where York throws open its doors (and wallets) and gives residents a load of free stuff and discounts. Think of it as a city-wide treasure hunt, with the treasure being savings on attractions and food. It's a bit like Christmas but in January, and instead of socks, you get free entry to museums, and a few quid off a tasty steak.
What Can You Expect?
Free Entry to Top Attractions: You can get into places like Beningbrough Hall, Merchant Adventurers’ Hall, and even go for a City Cruise without paying a penny.
Exclusive Offers Galore: There are deals on everything from tours of the Yorkshire Dales to discounted grub at some of York's best eateries. It’s the perfect way to discover the best of the city.
Where Can You Find these Bargains?
Visit York Website: The full list of offers will go live on the Visit York website today Friday 10 January. It’s like the January sales but for experiences rather than just things.
Some of the best deals you can expect to see:
Discounts on Food: Get 10% off at Love Cheese, 25% off dining at Rio Steakhouse, and 10% off at York Gin.
Discounts on Days Out: Enjoy some exclusive offers on Mountain Goat tours of the Yorkshire Dales, Oxygen York, and Lost Earth Adventurers.
Pre-Bookable tickets: Look out for the freebies like the tours of Ampleforth Abbey, and the York Theatre Royal backstage tours.
Free entry to attractions: Take advantage of free entry to some of the big York attractions including York Castle & Yorkshire Museum, The Minster and The York Art Gallery.
How to get in on the Action
To grab these deals you will need a valid York Card, student card, or an identity card that says you live in York. If using an identity card make sure it clearly states ‘York’ on it.
York Card: If you don't have one, you can buy a York Card for £6 for adult residents or £10 for non-residents who work in the city. Kids get it for free. It's valid for 12 months and you can get a digital card online or at any Explore library. It's like a passport to the best of York, and worth the money if you use it.
