Rise and Dine: Black Wheat Club Brings Bakery & Bistro Vibes to Fossgate
Black Wheat Club comes to York, UK
Fossgate has done it again—York’s coolest street just got a little cooler (or perhaps warmer). Say hello to the Black Wheat Club, the latest hotspot that’s coming to York in the new year where it will combine freshly baked bread, bistro classics, and a hipster atmosphere.
From Dough to Dinner
What sets Black Wheat Club apart? It’s not just about the bread (although, spoiler: the bread is going to be spectacular). This place will be a one stop shop where you can grab a crusty loaf in the morning, return for a fancy bistro lunch, and finish off your day with dinner.
What’s on the Menu?
Expect artisanal breads, flaky pastries, and enough sourdough to keep Instagram happy. Then in the evening, the bakery transforms into a bistro, serving up dishes that wouldn’t look out of place on MasterChef. Whether you’re craving a hearty stew, a fresh seasonal salad, or just a reason to drink wine in a bakery (who isn’t?), they’ve got you covered.
Why Fossgate?
Because Fossgate is York’s answer to Soho—a mix of quirky cafes, independent shops, and enough food options to make you forget what you came for. Black Wheat Club fits right in, adding a touch of Parisian flair to this foodie paradise. Plus, it’s a street where carbs are basically mandatory.
What’s in a Name?
The owners are Tomasz Mlynarski and Marta Obuchowska-Mlynarska, (who own Krep in Shambles Market) chose the name Black Wheat Club to reflect their commitment to using high-quality ingredients and unique grains. It’s a celebration of bread, yes, but also of the finer things in life—like not having to bake it yourself.
Final Slice
Fossgate’s food game is always strong, but Black Wheat Club will hopefully take things to the next level. So pay them a visit when they open in the new year, go for the bread, stay for the bistro vibes, and get a belly full of carbs.
