Fringe Comes Early: Catch the UK’s Funniest Acts in York Before They Hit Edinburgh
Starts next Sunday 13th July!
Forget the five-hour train ride, the Edinburgh Fringe is coming to York. Well, sort of.
From Sunday 13 to Saturday 19 July, Theatre@41 on Monkgate is hosting Halfway to Edinburgh, a brand-new, seven-night comedy festival packed with previews from some of the best stand-ups heading north for the world’s biggest arts festival. Think of it as the Fringe’s cooler, more laid-back cousin who brought the jokes to your doorstep.
The line-up? Ridiculously good. Expect laughs from heavy-hitters like Josie Long, Rob Auton, and Chloe Petts, plus a stellar mix of rising stars including Lulu Popplewell, Sam Nicoresti, Molly McGuinness, and Kate Dolan. And if you missed it last year, don’t sleep on Nina Gilligan’s acclaimed show Goldfish — it’s back and as sharp as ever.
The festival is the perfect opportunity for York locals to experience the excitement and innovation of the Edinburgh Fringe without leaving the city.” Basically, it’s top-tier comedy, minus the soggy chips and cobbled climbs.
Whether you’re a Fringe regular or just looking for a night of proper belly laughs, this is one week you don’t want to miss.
