Anime Gallery York - A Must-Visit for Anime Fans
Surly the biggest Anime shop in Yorkshire - here is all you need to know
Alright, listen up, fellow York explorers! If you're anything like me, you're always on the lookout for something a bit different, a hidden gem that makes our city so darn special. Well, I’ve stumbled across a new one that's got me buzzing: The Anime Gallery York. It's not your usual historical haunt, but trust me, it’s a proper treat.
What's the Fuss About?
My youngest daughter and her friends are big Anime fans so this week we made a trip out to the new Anime Gallery York. Well, this isn't just another shop; it's a full-on celebration of anime culture. As far as I know it’s now the the biggest of its kind in the area, and it’s packed with all sorts of goodies that my daughter went potty for.
What to Expect Inside
Eye-Catching Entrance: You can’t miss it; there are massive figures of Luffy’s Gear 5 form from ‘One Piece’ and No-Face from ‘Spirited Away’ by the door. And a 'One Piece' logo above.
Merchandise Galore: Inside, you'll find shelves bursting with anime goodies. We're talking bags, figures, clothes, manga, pins, and all sorts of stationery from the likes of Demon Slayer, Naruto, One Piece, Hatsune Miku, Sanrio, Dragon Ball, Studio Ghibli, Tokyo Ghoul, and Attack On Titan.
Something for Everyone: The shop is always getting new stock, and they are happy to order in stuff you don't see there. Some things are unique to this store, coming from suppliers in Japan, America, and China.
Totoro Cafe: A Bit of a Gem
Upstairs, it's like stepping into another world and it’s where you will find a charming Totoro themed cafe with life-size figures of Totoro and the two sisters. Great for a photo opportunity! It's also a great place to play board games.
A full menu is due soon but for now you can get drinks and snacks. The new menu will have coffee, bubble tea, cookies, and ice cream. There are also Japanese snacks like Pocky and Ramune available.
Community Feel: Even if you don't buy anything, you can relax in the cafe. The staff have tried to make it a hub for anime lovers.
Why You Should Visit
Biggest in the Area: This is the largest anime shop in York, and it has a lot to offer.
A Celebration of Anime: It's not just a shop; it’s a place to celebrate the art and culture of anime.
More Than Just a Shop: The Anime Gallery aims to host card tournaments, and run in the national Yu-Gi-Oh tournament.
